Terms of sale and use
Last updated August 4, 2026
These terms govern use of quelword.com and the purchase of Premium access. They are accepted at the moment of payment.
1. The service
QuelWord is a bilingual French–English daily word game. It offers two games, one round per day per language, and a leaderboard.
The daily game and the leaderboard are free and will stay that way. No account is needed to play; an account lets you appear on the leaderboard and keep your streak and history.
2. Accounts
Signing in is passwordless, by email link. You are responsible for access to your mailbox.
Usernames are public. An abusive, misleading or impersonating username may be changed or removed without notice.
The service is not intended for anyone under 15.
3. Fair play
Games are validated on the server. Attempting to bypass that validation, automate play or forge a score may lead to the removal of the results concerned and, on repetition, closure of the account.
No refund is owed where an account is closed on those grounds.
4. Premium access
Premium access costs €5 as a single payment. There is no subscription and no renewal. It is attached to your account and has no fixed term.
If you are outside the euro area, the price may be shown and charged in your local currency: the conversion is performed by Stripe at checkout, at the rate it applies. The exact amount is displayed to you before you confirm.
VAT not applicable under article 293 B of the French General Tax Code.
- The archive: replay past days' words (unranked).
- Detailed statistics and your complete vocabulary history.
- Unlimited practice mode.
- Colour themes and a Premium badge on the leaderboard.
5. Payment
Payments are processed by Stripe. Your card details are entered directly with Stripe and never pass through our servers.
Access is unlocked as soon as Stripe confirms the payment. If that confirmation fails, access is not granted and nothing is owed.
6. Right of withdrawal
Under article L221-28 13° of the French Consumer Code, the right of withdrawal does not apply to digital content not supplied on a tangible medium where performance has begun with the consumer's prior express consent and express acknowledgement that the right is thereby lost.
By completing your purchase you expressly request immediate access to all Premium features and acknowledge that you consequently lose your fourteen-day right of withdrawal. This confirmation is collected at checkout.
7. Refunds
Regardless of the above, a full refund is granted on request to contact@vynse.dev within 14 days of purchase, no reason needed. This is a voluntary commercial commitment, more generous than the law requires.
Refunds are issued through Stripe to the original payment method. Premium access is then removed from the account.
Beyond 14 days, a refund remains possible where a genuine, unresolved malfunction is established.
8. Availability
The service is provided as is, without any guarantee of uninterrupted availability. Interruptions may occur for maintenance or because of a third-party provider.
Because Premium is sold without a fixed term, it is tied to the existence of the service. Should the service be permanently discontinued, purchases made in the six months preceding the announcement will be refunded pro rata on request.
9. Game content
Definitions and translations are written carefully but are not a lexicographic reference. This is a game, not a dictionary, and no liability is accepted for its use in academic, professional or translation contexts.
10. Liability
We are not liable for indirect damages arising from use of the service. In any event, liability is limited to the amount actually paid over the preceding twelve months.
None of these limitations affects rights that French law grants consumers on a mandatory basis.
11. Termination
You may delete your account at any time by writing to contact@vynse.dev. Deletion is immediate and permanent: history, results and leaderboard entries are erased. A Premium purchase is not refunded merely because you chose to delete your account after the 14-day window.
12. Complaints
Any complaint should first be sent to contact@vynse.dev. You will get a reply within 14 days. Given the price and the refund policy above, essentially every dispute is settled by a refund, granted without argument.
The European online dispute resolution platform is also available at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by French law. Failing an amicable settlement, the French courts have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer resident in the European Union, you retain the benefit of the mandatory provisions of your country of residence.
14. Changes
These terms may change. The version applying to a purchase is the one in force on the date of that purchase. Any change is published on this page with a new date.
